Vehicle Ends Up in Spring Bayou; Driver Rescued Without Injury

TARPON SPRINGS — Emergency crews responded to Spring Bayou on Thursday morning after a vehicle became submerged in the water.

According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, officers and Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue were dispatched at approximately 8:00 a.m. following reports of a vehicle underwater in the bayou.

Upon arrival, first responders located the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, standing through the vehicle’s sunroof while the vehicle remained partially submerged.

Fire rescue personnel secured the vehicle and safely assisted the driver to shore without further incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The vehicle was later removed from Spring Bayou. Authorities have not released information regarding how the vehicle entered the water.

The incident remains under investigation.
