BRADENTON — A 50-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly shooting his stepson multiple times, striking a deputy’s vehicle while fleeing, and leading deputies on a short pursuit through Bradenton.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 12:06 p.m. on June 19, 2026, to the 5300 block of 16th Street West following reports of a shooting.
Investigators say 50-year-old Micky McGuire shot his 37-year-old stepson multiple times following an argument.
As deputies arrived at the scene, McGuire allegedly fled in a vehicle and struck a deputy’s patrol vehicle while attempting to escape.
A short pursuit ensued before McGuire crashed near the Steak ‘n Shake restaurant on 53rd Avenue West. After the crash, he fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies.
McGuire was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and fleeing to elude.
The victim was transported to Blake Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Sheriff’s officials said the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a family dispute and that all involved parties have been accounted for.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
