Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in St. Petersburg

A 47-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking in a marked crosswalk in St. Petersburg.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South and 15th Avenue South.

Police say a dark-colored sedan was traveling southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South as the woman was walking westbound in the marked crosswalk at 15th Avenue South.

The sedan struck the woman and fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

The victim was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police have not released the identity of the victim.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify the vehicle and driver involved.
