Driver Airlifted After Vehicle Crashes Into Pond in Clearwater

CLEARWATER — A patient was airlifted to a Tampa hospital Saturday following a crash that left a vehicle in a pond near North Hercules Avenue and Sunset Point Road.

Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the crash at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the area of 1915 N. Hercules Ave.

The vehicle came to rest in a pond adjacent to a building. According to Clearwater Fire & Rescue, the patient was no longer inside the vehicle when crews arrived at the scene.

Due to the patient’s injuries, Bayflite was requested for air transport. A landing zone was established nearby at Frank Tack Park.

The patient was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The Clearwater Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Additional information about what led to the vehicle entering the pond has not been released.
