A 21-year-old Trinity woman was arrested Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after investigators say she admitted to trapping a neighborhood cat inside her home and torturing it over several days before killing it in May 2024.
Juliana Alyssa Brown faces a felony charge of aggravated animal cruelty following an investigation by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
According to an arrest affidavit, the investigation began October 11, 2026, when a mandatory clinical reporter provided information that Brown had admitted to holding a cat captive and killing it while her family was on vacation.
Deputies contacted Brown at her home and conducted a noncustodial interview. During that interview, she allegedly admitted to trapping the cat inside the residence and repeatedly attempting to kill it over several days.
The affidavit states Brown described attempting to drown the cat, stabbing it several times with a kitchen knife and attempting to crush it between her legs. Investigators say she ultimately drowned the animal in her bathroom.
After the cat’s death, Brown allegedly concealed its body in a refrigerator to hide it from family members. According to the affidavit, she also admitted to mutilating the remains, consuming some of the animal’s organs and preserving part of its remains in alcohol for several months.
Investigators say Brown provided a photograph showing the cat alive inside the home on May 3 and a Polaroid labeled May 5 showing its mutilated remains. She also produced a knife she identified as the one used during the incident, according to the affidavit.
Family members confirmed they had taken a vacation in May 2024. Investigators determined the alleged abuse occurred between May 3 and May 5 of that year at a residence on Amaryllis Court in Trinity.
During a subsequent interview after being advised of her Miranda rights, Brown allegedly repeated her admissions. The affidavit states she also told investigators she frequently fantasized about killing animals.
The investigating detective requested a high bond, citing concerns about public safety.
