Near Drowning of 21 Month-Old Found in Swimming Pool

Crews from the Lealman Special Fire Control District along with Sunstar Paramedics were dispatched to reports of an unconscious baby found in a swimming pool. It occurred just prior to 10 AM today at a residential home at 5401 Westchester Blvd in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.
The 21 month-old, Skylar Devlin, was taken to All Children’s Hospital. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has stated the child has non-life threatening injuries.
According to deputies, the victim’s caregiver was preparing her home for a family get together and the victim was outside in the fenced in backyard with a family friend. The caregiver came outside and noticed the victim was not near the friend and located her in the in-ground pool. The victim was taken out of the pool and 9-1-1 was called.
The near drowning does appear to be accidental and no charges are pending at this time.
The investigation continues.
