BREAKING

Crews from Largo Fire Rescue and Largo Police Department (LPD) got dispatched to the parking lot of Largo Medical Center Hospital about 11pm on Wednesday evening.

One person has died as a result of what appears to be a freak traffic incident.  The deceased has been identified as 61 year-old Patricia McChesney of Clearwater.

According to LPD, McChesney was driving though the parking lot when she exited her car for an undetermined reason. As she exited the car it was still in drive and started to move forward with no driver. McChesney was possibly trying to get back into her car or catch up to it when she was trapped between her car and another parked car. Her car was perpendicular to the parked cars in the lot. The accident resulted in the drivers side of her car coming to rest against the rear of another car that was properly parked in a spot.

Hospital security came upon this awful scene as she was trapped between her car and the parked car upon their arrival. The vehicle was still in drive when paramedics arrived and they separated the cars to treat the driver.

According to Lt. Snell of Largo Fire Rescue, firefighters utilized a hydraulic spreader to separate the vehicles in order to free her.  McChesney died at the scene due to the extent of her injuries.

McChesney was visiting a patient at the hospital and struck the parked car when she was leaving. The case is still under investigation and no charges are expected.
