The accident occurred just after 7 PM at the motocross track which is located at 4300 126 Avenue N in Clearwater.
Thursday evenings the track holds an open practice night from 6PM and runs until 10PM.
Friends and classmates began posting to twitter almost immediately after the incident. The exact details of the crash are unknown at this time. Crews arrived from Pinellas Park Fire Department and were treating Devin following the crash. He struggled to breathe and went into cardiac arrest. He died very early this morning despite the resuscitation efforts.
The twitter hash tags changed this morning from “prayfordevin to #ripdevin and students learned of his death.
Grief counselors are onsite at Osceola High School to assist both students and teachers. There is one tweet mentioning a teacher crying in the hallway. Devin appeared to be very popular and well liked.
His love of fishing and battling the “Silver King” (Tarpon) seemed to be one of his other passions besides his love of motocross.
