Allegiant Aircraft With Mechanical Issue at St. Pete-Clearwater Airport

Allegiant flight 890 was scheduled for a 8:10 AM departure from St. Pete-Clearwater Airport

It reportedly left the gate 7 minutes early at 8:03AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

Shortly thereafter, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) units were dispatched to reports that the 1990 MD-83 blew a tire.

The exact type of mechanical failure is currently under investigation. Some reports indicate that it may not have involved a tire.

The aircraft successfully returned to the airport and no injuries were reported.

The flight was headed to Fort Wayne, Indiana with a scheduled arrival time of 11:49AM.

ARFF units remained on-scene for some time to clear debris from the runway.
