Arrest made in early morning fatal shooting at St. Petersburg Food Max store

St. Petersburg Police made an arrest following a shooting that took place at the Food Max Meat Market at 1400 18th Avenue South shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020.

Police stated that a crowd gathered at the Food Max Meat Market and an argument occurred between individuals and shots were fired. Officers arrived to find 38 year-old Bernard Nixon and another man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where Nixon was pronounced dead following a gunshot wound to the face and another to the chest.  The second victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was in critical condition at last check.

Darren Lamont Williams, age 49 of St. Petersburg, was arrested and is facing the following felony charges; Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Murder in the 2nd Degree (Attempt) and Murder in the 2nd Degree.
