Man on Scooter Medevaced from Crash on the Clearwater Memorial Causeway

A 39 year-old man was critically injured after his scooter crashed into a Ford Ranger at the intersection of Island Way and the Memorial Causeway.  The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018.

The man was flown by Bayflite to the Bayfront Health St. Petersburg trauma center.

According to Clearwater Police, the scooter collided with a 2006 Ford Ranger at the intersection of Memorial Causeway and Island Way at 4:33 p.m. The scooter was westbound on the causeway at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ranger, 36 year-old Jason Bedami of Clearwater made a left turn in front of the scooter, causing the collision.

Westbound lanes of the causeway were shut down for the investigation and eastbound lanes were closed as Bayflite prepared the man for transport.

All lanes were reopened as of 8 p.m.
