Pinellas County Deputies responded to a bicyclist that was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle at approximately 6:15PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Alternate 19 and Tradewinds Drive in Dunedin.

According to investigators 78-year-old Ann Tamboe was driving her Chrysler 200 north on Alternate 19 turning left onto Tradewinds Drive. 59-year-old Catherine Ashenfelter was on her bicycle headed south on Alternate 19 in the bike lane. Deputies say Tamboe struck Ashenfelter as she turned left onto Tradewinds Drive.

Ashenfelter was transported via Bayflite 3 to Bayfront Health St Petersburg for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Tamboe was not injured.

The investigation continues.
