Brush Fire Burns 10 Acres Near Tampa International Airport

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to a brush fire at 1:54 p.m. on April 24, 2025, in the 3900 block of George Road, between the Skyway Park and Dana Shores areas.

Upon arrival, firefighters found approximately 3 acres of brush and woods burning. High winds contributed to the fire’s rapid expansion, prompting the request for additional units.

Crews worked for approximately two hours to contain the fire and extinguish hot spots. The fire burned about 10 acres in total before being brought under control.

Tampa Fire Rescue was assisted by the Tampa Police Air Service, the Florida Department of Forestry, and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The fire occurred near Memorial Highway and property adjacent to Tampa International Airport but caused no reported flight delays. No structural damage or injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
