First responders were busy this morning as a results of a vehicle crash in Largo.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard just to the east of US 19.
Largo Fire Rescue was dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:07am today. An officer from Largo Police Department (LPD) was on-scene and reported up to 5 persons injured. He requested an expedited response from the fire department and additional units from LPD to assist. The officer was dealing with multiple patients with injuries including children who were visibly scared and shaken.
Largo’s Engine 40 was first on-scene and reported two vehicles with heavy damage. Additional units from Largo Fire Rescue and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were dispatched to assist. The other individual was able to be removed without requiring an extrication operation.
All of the vehicle occupants appear to have been transported to local hospitals for further evaluation. All of the eastbound lanes were closed until the road was cleared and quickly reopened shortly after 9am.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation
