NEW PORT RICHEY — A driver accidentally accelerated while attempting to park Wednesday afternoon, sending a sedan into the front of the Social Security Administration building in New Port Richey.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m. on July 14, 2026, at the Social Security Administration office located at 7601 Little Road.
Troopers said a 63-year-old New Port Richey woman was driving a Kia sedan westbound through the parking lot when she attempted to pull into a parking space. During the maneuver, she accidentally accelerated, causing the vehicle to crash into the front of the building.
The driver was not injured in the collision.
A 43-year-old Holiday woman riding as a passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
No information was immediately released regarding the extent of damage to the building or whether the office was impacted by the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
