Cement Truck Overturns off 22nd Ave S in St. Petersburg

Update 7:30p.m.: Workers are finishing up and 22 Ave S should be open in the next few minutes.
The driver is in stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening as previously released by police.

A cement mixer overturned on 22nd Ave South, after coming off the interstate ramp. St. Petersburg Police say that no other vehicles were involved.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries once extricated from the truck by firefighters.

22nd Ave South is closed eastbounda and is down to one lane westbound.

The 22nd Ave S. exit ramp from I-275 is also closed to traffic.

There is quite a bit of spilled material on the roadway, and clean-up crews are enroute.

22nd Ave. will remain closed for at least two hours until a tow truck can arrive to move the cement truck.
