Clearwater Authorities Probe Fatal Blaze at Edge Hotel Parking Garage

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were called to a car fire at the Edge Hotel on 505 S. Gulfview Blvd just before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The vehicle was on the third floor of the parking garage. Following the extinguishing of the fire, authorities discovered one deceased individual inside.

A preliminary investigation by Clearwater Police homicide detectives indicates that this incident was an apparent suicide.

An adult male set the car on fire and then shot himself. It is believed he is not from this area.
