Officers from the Clearwater Police arrested Angelo Garcia-Cadena this morning at Countryside High School. He is currently enrolled as a student at the school and this arrest occurred just 3 days after his 18th birthday.
Police say that Garcia-Cadena was found to have brought a firearm into the school with him and was allegedly planning a criminal act against another student in the school.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Clearwater Police believe this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to Countryside High School students.
The school was placed in a brief lock down during the arrest.
Garcia-Cadena was arrested for the aggravated assault, disruption of a school function, and possession of a firearm on school property as well as other charges related to the firearm.
