Clearwater Police responded to a home at 1240 Pineview Avenue at approximately 7:22 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
Aurelian Frumosu, age 41, reportedly arrived at the residence and began to damage an exterior air conditioning unit, kicking it and banging on it with a brick. Scott Christy, age 61, who was in the home at the time, went outside to investigate the noise. Frumosu entered the home through an open door. During an ensuing struggle inside the house, Christy was stabbed in the chest.
Christy was transported to a Morton Plant Hospital with critical injuries and later died.
Frumosu was apprehended by police at the scene, evaluated by paramedics from Clearwater Fire & Rescue, and transported to a local hospital.
Frunosu was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of armed burglary and 2nd-degree murder.
The two parties are known to one another because the Christy family rents the house that was owned by Frumosu’s mother, who died last year. The property has been in probate, and there is civil litigation between the Christy family and the owner’s children.
