Two dead as a son crossing Court Street pushing his father in a wheelchair struck by an SUV in Clearwater

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a crash involving two pedestrians on Court Street just east of Missouri Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Both pedestrians were crossing Court Street when they were struck.

Both were taken to Morton Plant Hospital where they died from their injuries.

The pedestrians have been identified as 59 year-old George Pryor and his 37 year-old son Christopher Pryor.

They were crossing in the 1200 block of Court Street and not at a traffic signal or in a crosswalk.\

Christopher was pushing his father in a wheelchair at the same time his father was pushing a shopping cart.

The driver of the Cadillac SUV who hit them is a 52 year-old woman from Tampa. She remained on scene and is cooperating with traffic homicide investigators.

Eastbound lanes were closed for several hours during the on-scene investigation.
