Clearwater Police along with Clearwater Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a report of a man with multiple gunshot wounds at 1576 S. Madison Ave.
The call came in just prior to 6:30 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

Bayflite landed at the Ross Norton Recreation Complex to transport the man to Bayfront Health Trauma Center in St. Petersburg.
Investigators are working on a possible suspect and have a rough vehicle description.

On Sunday morning, Clearwater Police revealed that the suspect and victim were known to each other and this was not a random act.
The injured man has been identified as 50 year-old Ugenio Cortez.
Cortez’s injuries initially were described as life threatening.
