Deputies locate man following an assault that led to a house fire in Unincorporated Largo

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office respond to anyone in the 1100 block of 19th Avenue SW.

The call for service was in reference to an assault. Deputies arrived to find smoke and flames in the home.

Firefighters from Largo Fire Rescue and the City of Seminole Fire Rescue responded to the scene and brought the fire under control. The fire caused extensive damage to the interior of the home.

The male, 48-year-old Benjamin Lipp, fled the fled the scene and deputies along with a K-9 and the Sheriff’s helicopter began to search for his whereabouts

One female occupant was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

Lipp was located and booked into the Pinellas County Jail during the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He is facing charges of aggravated assault, domestic battery by strangulation, and tampering with a witness.
