Detectives Identify Body Found In St. Pete Canal

What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have identified the body of the young male found floating in a St.Pete Beach Canal.

When:
The body was found on the evening of April 8, 2013.

Where:
The body was found in a canal on the south side of the Jacaranda Retirement Home located at 4250 56th Street North in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
Detectives have identified the body floating in the canal as that of 17-year-old Manuel Vivanco of Dunedin.
According to detectives the Medical Examiner’s Office took posession of the body and conducted an autopsy. Deputies say Vivanco’s death is not suspicious in nature. Toxicology reports are still pending.
Detectives began conducting a death investigation on the evening of April 8th, 2013 after a passerby discovered the body of a male in the canal.
Detectives then sought the public’s help to identify the man and provided the following description: a Hispanic or Bi-Racial man in his early to mid 20s, about 5’7″ tall and weighing about 150 pounds; with short hair. The man is believed to be clothed in a soccer style uniform. The shirt is a v-neck style, tan in color, with yellow or gold stripes on the shoulders, the matching shorts are also tan in color, with a yellow or gold stripe on the side. The shirt has the letters “BWIN” on the front; and on the back collar are the words “REAL MADRID.” He was wearing socks and no shoes.
Detectives say the body may have been in the water for about two days.
The investigation continues.
