Detectives searching for the second suspect in a robbery at the PNC bank in Largo

Detectives from the Largo Police Department continue investigating a robbery at the PNC bank at 10751 Ulmerton Road, which occurred at approximately 12:46 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Brian Brown, 43, of Largo, was arrested for his role in the robbery of the PNC bank. According to arrest information, Brown was the “get-away driver” for a male who robbed the teller. He identified that subject as 53-year-old Calvin Lockett of Largo.

Brown denied knowledge of the robbery; however, he was seen on surveillance watching Lockett leaving the neighboring business, where he dropped him off on a bike dressed in disguise.

When Lockett returned, he changed into separate clothing and disposed of the bike in the business’s dumpster. Brown was viewed on surveillance driving Lockett off of the property after the robbery.

It should be noted that Lockett was provided with “bait bills” that the bank had recorded the serial numbers.

On May 5, 2024, a search warrant was executed at Brown’s residence in the 2200 block of Mary Sue Street in Largo. Brown provided detectives with the code to his safe, and two of the “bait bills” that had been stolen from the PNC were located inside the safe in a stack of $1300 (26-$50 bills).

As part of the search at Brown’s residence, vehicle, and trailer, officers located five 5 firearms: Sentry Arms Rifle AK47, Glock 19, Smith and Wesson 9mm, Kahr 9mm, and American Tactical Rifle .223.

Brown admitted post-Miranda that he collects firearms and the found firearms belong to him. He admitted to being a convicted felon and had not yet had his rights restored. Two of the weapons were listed as stolen in NCIC/FCIC outside of Pinellas County. Brown advised that he purchases firearms on the street as he can not legally purchase them due to being a convicted felon.

Due to a 2002 robbery with a deadly weapon/firearm conviction, he was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm in addition to a robbery charge.

The Largo Police Department continues to look for Calvin Lockett, a transient who was last seen in the Ridgecrest area of Largo. While not considered armed, Largo Police recommend using caution if you see Lockett and contacting your local police department immediately or the Largo Police Department at 727-587-6730.

Brown posted bail on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and was released from the Pinellas County Jail.
