Clearwater Fire Rescue and Clearwater Police responded to a water rescue call off the Courtney Campbell Causeway just before 5 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024.
A 32-year-old Haines City man was swimming with family members when he began having trouble in the water.
He was located about 30 yards from shore by a Clearwater Fire & Rescue rapid diver shortly after they arrived at the scene.
Paramedics administered CPR and transported the victim to Mease Countryside, where he later died.
