A late-night crash on April 29, 2026 @ 11:40 PM along northbound Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg resulted in injuries and a DUI arrest after a vehicle struck a stopped Road Ranger truck in an active construction zone.
According to investigators, a Honda Accord driven by a 32-year-old Lithia man was traveling northbound in the inside lane of I-275, just north of 4th Street North. At the same time, a marked Road Ranger Ford F600 truck, operated by a 52-year-old Plant City man, was stopped in traffic within the same lane.
The crash occurred in an area where the remaining three northbound lanes were closed for active construction. Traffic cones had been set up to merge all vehicles into the inside lane, and officials reported the cones were upright and clearly visible. Additional warning measures were also in place, including advanced signage, illuminated arrow boards, and multiple law enforcement vehicles with emergency lights activated to alert approaching drivers.
Authorities say the driver of the Honda failed to slow or stop as he approached the traffic backup. The front of the Accord collided with the rear of the Road Ranger truck.
The Road Ranger operator sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Cedrick Travon Brown, was taken into custody at the scene. He faces charges of DUI, refusal to submit to testing, driving while license suspended or revoked, and an active felony warrant.
The crash remains under investigation.
