DUI Driver Strikes Road Ranger’s Truck Causing Both Vehicles to Erupt in Flames Early Saturday Morning in Hillsborough County
Eldy Cartaya Dominguez, age 32 of Tampa, was arrested early Saturday morning by Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Cartaya Dominguez was involved in a crash that occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was traveling northbound on I-275 in a 2017 Toyota Camry near Busch Boulevard in the outside lane.
Troopers say that Cartaya Dominguez attempted to overtake a Road Ranger truck being operated by 42 year-old Brian Barrett of Wimauma. The Toyota collided with the rear of the truck causing both vehicles to erupt into flames.
Cartaya Dominguez was arrested for Driving Under the Influence with Injury and Property Damage.
Barrett was transported to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.
