Early Morning Fire At Sun Village MHP in Largo

Multiple calls were received a few minutes before 7AM by the 911 Center in regards to a structure fire. The fire occurred at the Sun Village Mobile Home Park which is located at 12300 Seminole Blvd in Unincorporated Largo.
A large column of smoke could be seen by units responding from both Seminole Fire Rescue and Largo Fire Rescue as the sun began to rise.
Crews began a rapid attack on the fire in order to prevent the spread to surrounding homes and vehicles.
The homeowner has been identified as Merle Jacobs. She was at home in Lot 80 at the time the fire started. She was able to exit the structure safely and was evaluated by medics but denied medical treatment.
Christopher Walker lives next door in Lot 79. His home was also damaged due to the heat generated by the fire. The heat caused the paint to melt on two parked vehicles and melted the vinyl siding along the trailer.
Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office state the fire appears accidental and may have started from an electrical malfunction.
Sunstar and Duke Energy also assisted on-scene.
The investigation continues into the blaze.
