East Lake — A 15-year-old student at East Lake High School was arrested Monday, September 22, 2025, after allegedly making written threats to commit a mass shooting, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The female student at the school, was taken into custody by detectives from the Threat Management Division following an investigation into disturbing messages she allegedly sent via Snapchat and a group chat. In one of the messages, she reportedly stated: “Everyone is incompetent imbecile and everyone is getting shot.”
Detectives say she admitted to sending the message but claimed she had no intention of following through on the threat. According to officials, she told detectives she made the statement as a joke because she was upset about not being allowed to leave school early.
Despite her explanation, the student was arrested and charged with one count of Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting, a serious felony offense under Florida law. She is currently facing charges as a juvenile.
