Fatality Crash in Riverview Closing US-301

At approximately 2:51 PM on Friday, December 25, 2015, a 43 year-old Valrico man was killed in crash in Hillsborough County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 82 year-old Carole Sue Rink of Brandon, FL was traveling in a 2009 Chevy Impala southbound on US-301.  She was in the left turn lane to Summerfield Square Drive.

The motorcyclist, now identified as 43 year-old Louis Matthew Bruno, was traveling northbound on US-301 in the northbound center lane.

Rink turn left into the path of the motorcyclist and the front of the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Impala.

The man was transported to St. Joesph’s Hospital where he died from his injuries.

FHP reports the charges are pending.  No protective helmet was being worn according to the FHP report.

Both Rink and her 15 year-old passenger were transported to St. Joeseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.

FHP is currently on-scene of a fatality crash on US-301 just north of Big Bend Road in Riverview.

Only one inside northbound lane remains open during the investigation.
 



FHP arrived on scene shortly after 3PM.  Updates here when received from Florida Highway Patrol.

Update 3:41PM: FHP reporting all northbound lanes closed.

Update 3:55PM: Motorcyclist killed on NB US-301 N of Big Bend Rd. All NB lanes closed for FHP investigation. Reported no helmet or protective gear. Still all info unconfirmed.

Vehicle involved was a Chevy car with extensive damage to passenger side door.
