Woman getting out of disabled vehicle struck and killed on I-75 in Bradenton

A woman was killed after being struck by a car on I-75 in Bradenton Monday, May 22, 2023.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports the woman pulled over on the southbound I-75 lane at MM 214 due to a mechanical issue. The woman exited her vehicle with the door open.

A second vehicle was traveling soundbound on I-75 approaching the scene. Two other vehicles were also southbound.

FHP says the second vehicle was changing lanes and collided with the pedestrian and her vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report indicates a 9-year-old girl was in the victim’s vehicle and was not injured.

The second vehicle then collided with the right side of the two other vehicles

The crash remains under investigation.
