FHP charges driver with Vehicular Homicide in crash from last November
Fielden Bruce Odell was arrested today by FHP investigators for Vehicular Homicide and ticked for no seatbelt. Odell was delivered to the Pinellas County Jail.
Mr. Odell was the driver of a Dodge Ram Truck that was traveling southbound on 71st Street N. He attempted to pass another southbound vehicle and in doing so traveled onto the east shoulder of the roadway. He over-corrected and traveled back across the roadway, rotated clockwise and traveled into a culvert. Once hitting the culvert, the vehicle became airborne and overturned then collided with a utility pole. As the vehicle overturned, Mr. Odell was ejected from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The passenger sustained fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash.

Units from both Lealman Fire Rescue and Pinellas Park Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at approximately 7:43 AM this morning. The crash involved a Dodge Ram Truck which resulted in the death of the passenger.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. The truck collided with a utility pole and appeared have flipped over crushing the roof.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control while the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the cause of the crash.
