FHP Investigating Crash On US-19 Killing a Port Richey Motorcyclist

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist.  The crash occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of US-19 at Royal Blvd (between SR-580 and Curlew Rd).

According to FHP, 56 year-old Susan Marie Bruce of Orotonville, Michigan was traveling southbound on US-19, north of Royal Boulevard, in the center median left turn lane. She was operating a 2015 Ford F150.

Investigators say 25 year-old Bryan Anthony Costa, II of Port Richey was traveling northbound on US-19 in the outside lane operating a 2010 Buell motorcycle.

The driver of the Ford turned left into Costa’s path and as a result, the front of the motorcycle collided with the right side of Ford.

Costa died after being transported to Mease Countryside Hospital.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

All northbound lanes were closed during the lengthy investigation.

Charges are listed as pending and troopers say alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the crash.
