FHP Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Hillsborough County
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a crash that occurred on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at approximately 2:11 pm.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Causeway Blvd and South 54th Street in Palm River-Clair Mel.
According to the report from FHP, 30 year-old Joshua Perez of Plant City was operating a 2006 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Causeway Boulevard west of South 54th Street at a high rate of speed.
Perez struck a 2017 Ford F-150 that was making a left turn from westbound Causeway Blvd to head south on South 54th Street.
The driver of the F-150, 59 year-old Edward Gonzalez of Wesley Chapel, was not injured in the crash.
Perez suffered fatal injuries and died at the crash scene.
Alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the crash and FHP reports that Perez was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Charges are listed as pending while the investigation continues.
