FHP Performs CPR on Pedestrian That Was Struck Thursday Night on Gandy Blvd Near 2nd Street

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle shortly after 11 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Gandy Blvd at 2nd Street N in St. Petersburg.

It was reported that a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper had already begun CPR on the victim when paramedics arrived.

Paramedics continued to perform life saving techniques but the victim died from their injuries at the scene.

According to FHP Troopers, 33 year-old James Stowell of Durham, North Carolina walked into the path of a 2004 Toyota Tacoma.  The Tacoma, driven by a 51 year-old Belleair Bluffs man, was traveling eastbound on Gandy Blvd, east of 4th Street North, in the outside lane.

According to investigators, no charges are expected and alcohol did not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
