Firefighters Battling Structure Fire After Reported Lightning Strike to St. Petersburg Home

Firefighters are currently at a home in the 1800 block of Coffee Pot Boulevard NE in St. Petersburg.

The call for service was received at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

Smoke fills the sky surrounding the structure fire on Coffee Pot Blvd NE

The initial information was that the roof of a home was struck by lightning.  Responding units from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue reported a visual column of smoke as they were still responding.

Firefighter are dealing with continued lightning in the area while attempting the combat the fire which is on the roof and in the attic of the home.

As of 6:55 p.m. firefighters have exited the structure due to unsafe conditions.

Initial reports indicate all occupants exited the structure safely.

This house is about 9 homes away from a fire that occurred on Coffee Pot Bayou NE at approximately 6:30 a.m. today.
