Fleeing driver arrives at hospital following Clearwater crash that injured two others

Crews from Clearwater Fire & Rescue and Clearwater Police are currently investigating a head-on crash that occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at North Betty Lane at Springdale Street.

One vehicle was heavily damaged and crews worked for approximately 40 minutes to extricate one of the occupants. A second person in that vehicle was transported to Bayfront Health as a trauma alert.

The driver who ran from the scene showed up at Morton Plant Hospital after the crash. He was then taken to Tampa General Hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

The investigation continues.
