Four Children Injured After Pinellas County School Bus Rear-ends a Tractor Trailer on Ulmerton Road

Four children were injured following a crash that occurred at approximately 6:36 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018.  The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Ulmerton Road at 58th Street N.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol investigators, a Pinellas County school bus was traveling westbound on Ulmerton Road at 58th Street North in the outside lane.

The driver of the bus, 67 year-old Bernand Gant, read-ended a tractor-trailer on Ulmerton Road which was stopped for a red light at the intersection.

Aboard the bus at the time of the crash were six high school aged children, four of which were transported to All Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.  One other adult was on the bus at the time of the crash but reported no injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash

Gant was cited for careless driving according to troopers.
