Girl Stabbed by Fellow Classmate From Gibbs High School at a Bus Stop in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD) continue to investigate after a student was stabbed at a bus stop in St. Petersburg.

The incident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

As of now, SPPD reports that their preliminary investigation has found that two teenage girls, involved in an ongoing disagreement, began fighting at a bus stop near Paris Ave and 6th Street South.

As the bus approached the fight escalated and 15-year-old Diamond Troutman stabbed 16-year-old Aliayah Barnes.

At some point Troutman ran onto the bus.

When police arrived, Troutman was arrested and faces two felony charges of  aggravated battery and possession of a weapon on school property for stabbing  Barnes.

Troutman faces an additional felony charge of aggravated assault for threatening Barnes’ mother with a pair of scissors.

Barnes remains in stable condition at Bayfront Health.

Barnes was taken to Bayfront Health with a serious injury and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation continues as detectives interview witnesses and review video.

There were between 25 and 30 students on the bus who were taken to Gibbs High School.

Counselors are available at the school for students who may need them.
