Gulfport Resident Facing Attempted 1st Degree Murder Charge for Stabbing Man in the Skull With a Dagger

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 5522 Tangerine Ave S in Gulfport, Florida.

35 year-old Matthew Brian Leonard, a.k.a. Liz Elizabeth, was reportedly at a home on Tangerine Ave S when he woke 40 year-old Troy Goddard who was sleeping on a couch in the residence.  Leonard ordered Goddard out of the residence while armed with a dagger.

According to an arrest affidavit, Leonard followed him to the street and stabbed the dagger into the victim’s skull.

Goddard was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert.

Sergeant Matthew Parks of the Gulfport Police Department rolled up on the scene right after it occurred while on routine patrol.

Leonard was arrested without incident as is being held without bond on charges of attempted 1st degree murder.
