Investigators from the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office Locate Hit-and Run Amazon Driver

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver of a white van who struck an unoccupied, parked Volkswagen Jetta.

The crash occurred on November 11, 2018 at 11:11am near the 1500 block of Banner Elk Street in Valrico.

The driver did not report the crash and took off after the incident.

He was only described as a 40ish year-old white male driver was wearing red shorts, a black t-shirt, black shoes and a red vest.

HCSO asked that everyone take a good look at the video and anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.

IONTB, in further communication with HCSO, received information that Amazon is refusing to provide law enforcement information regarding the driver without a subpoena.

On Thursday, November 29, 2018, HCSO reported that 53 year-old Jorge Dorta Perez was identified as the driver in the hit-and-run crash.

Dorta Perez met with detectives today and admitted to crashing into the victim’s vehicle. He was given a criminal citation for Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash without Giving Information with Property  Damage.
