Hillsborough SWAT Apprehends Murder Suspect in Tampa

At approximately 2:30 pm, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiators were able to effect the peaceful surrender of Raul Rodriguez who had barricaded himself in a residence located at 8902 Navajo Ave in Tampa.

During the investigation, homicide detectives secured an arrest warrant for Rodriguez Jr and developed information that confirmed Rodriguez Jr. was at the residence on Navajo Ave.

Detectives arrived on scene and when Rodriguez refused to exit the residence, a SWAT activation was called.

For approximately 3 hours, Crisis Negotiators attempted to communicate with Rodriguez Jr. with negative results. SWAT team members then deployed a audible distraction devices that motivated Rodriguez to peacefully surrender.

Rodriguez Jr. walked out the residence and was arrested without further incident.

On December 23, 2016 at approximately 2:30 am,  Rodriguez Jr was involved in an altercation with the victim inside a residence in Wimauma.

During that altercation, Rodriguez Jr. shot Jose Rodriguez (unrelated) who died at the scene.

Raul Rodriguez will be booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
