Arrest made in St. Petersburg shooting death

Detectives with the St. Petersburg Department (SPPD) are currently investigating after a man died as a result of a shooting in the city.

On Monday, November 15th, 2021 at approximately 6:38 pm., officers responded to a person shot outside near 3110 47th Avenue South. They located a male, identified as 27 year-old Logan Jay McNeil, that was shot. McNeil was transported as a trauma alert to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Based on the initial assessment, it was believed that McNeil’s injuries were non-life threatening. On Tuesday, November 16th, McNeil’s conditioned deteriated and he died from his injuries.

Kevon Nathaniel Turner, age 26 was arrested in the evening of Tuesday, November, 16th and facing charges of 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Logan Jay McNeil.

Detectives say that McNeil and Turner were known to each other and were meeting, when Turner shot the victim several times.

Detectives were able to speak to the victim before he died, and the information he provided led to the arrest.
