Indiana Woman Arrested for DUI After Crashing Into Pinellas Park Police Cruiser

A 27-year-old Indiana woman was arrested on DUI charges early Saturday morning after allegedly running a red light and crashing into a marked Pinellas Park Police Department patrol vehicle at a busy Pinellas County intersection.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 49th Street North.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Traverse was traveling eastbound on Ulmerton Road while a marked Pinellas Park Police vehicle was traveling westbound. As the patrol vehicle attempted to make a left turn through the intersection on a green traffic signal, the driver of the Traverse failed to stop for a red light and collided with the police cruiser.

The officer driving the patrol vehicle was not injured in the crash.

Following the investigation, FHP determined the driver of the Traverse, Jessica Harvey, 27, of Avon, Indiana, was impaired at the time of the collision. Harvey was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol troopers on DUI-related charges.

No additional injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
