Investigation Continues in Clearwater Crash Killing One Person and Injuring Another

Crews from Clearwater Fire & Rescue and Clearwater Police responded to reports of a rollover crash shortly before noon on Monday, November 11, 2019.

The crash occurred on Fort Harrison Ave near Woodlawn Street.

The crash left two vehicles heavily damaged with one coming to rest on its roof.

Police say that 58 year-old Sandra Padgett of Belleair was traveling southbound on Fort Harrison Avenue in a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Maritza Alfandari, age 70 of New Port Richey, was traveling northbound on Fort Harrison Avenue in a 2019 Honda SUV when police say she crossed the center line.

Following the nearly head-on crash, the Dodge pickup truck came to rest on its roof requiring firefighters to extricate Padgett from the vehicle. She was transported via Bayflite to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

Alfandari died at the scene of the crash.

Police say that Padgett remains in critical condition at Bayfront.

As of 5 p.m., all lanes reopened in that area.
