Investigation Continues After Motorcyclist Killed in St. Petersburg Crash

A 55 year-old man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a tow truck on 34th Street in St. Petersburg near 8th Avenue South.

St. Petersburg Police Department detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash involving 55-year old Ralph Densmore of Largo and 32-year-old tow truck driver, Eric A. Danford.

According to investigators, both vehicles were travelling southbound on 34th Street South when the motorcyclist tried to pass the tow truck as it changed lanes to turn right.

Densmore hit the passenger-side mirror, throwing him from the bike.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Petersburg Fire Department medics.

Danford stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
