Investigators on-scene after 3 year-old drowns in St. Petersburg pond

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department were called at approximately 11:28 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2020, for a missing 3 year-old boy. The boy, Malik Brown, was missing from a home near Lakewood Drive S and Alcazar Way S in the Lakewood Estates area.

Officers arrived to the area at approximately 11:32 a.m. During the search, an officer located Malik in a nearby pond in the 1600 block of Alcazar Way S and called for St. Petersburg Fire Rescue. The pond is approximately 1 1/2 blocks from the child’s home. He was located at approximately 11:40 a.m. and was CPR initiated.

Paramedics administered life saving measures and the child was transported to All Children’s hospital. The child was declared deceased at the hospital.
