David Engberg, age 29 of Land O’ Lakes, was killed in crash that occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
Engberg was traveling northbound on US-301 approaching Daughtry Road while operating a 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle.
Shirley Ann Brooks,, age 73 of Zephyrhills, was operating a 2018 Chevy Sonic southbound on US-301 and in the left turn lane at Daughtry Road.
According to troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol, Brooks failed to yield and turned left into the path of Engberg’s motorcycle.
Engberg, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Brooks was treated for minor injuries and transported to Advent Heath Zephyrhills for further medical care.
Troopers say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and charges are pending.
