20 year-old Jan Melendez-Miranda of Largo died in a crash Tuesday night after crashing in the westbound lanes of the Gandy Bridge.

The crash occurred at about 10:59 p.m. while Melendez-Miranda was traveling on a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle at a high rate of speed westbound in the inside lane of Gandy Boulevard east of San Fernando Blvd according to Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol.

He collided with the rear of a 2007 Honda CRV while attempting to overtaking it.

Melendez-Miranda was thrown from the motorcycle which overturned and caught fire.

The Honda rotated and collided with the inside concrete barrier wall.
