Largo Police Arrest Man Trying to Make Sexual Contact With School-aged Girls

In early August of 2017, Largo Police Department Detective Lance Moore began an investigation into a suspect who had made multiple posts on a social media networking site soliciting sexual contact from school-aged girls.

The posts specifically depicted the adult male suspect’s desire to engage in a “rape fantasy with young schoolgirls.” Det. Moore responded to the post, posing as a middle school-aged female.

Throughout the online conversations, Det. Moore indicated to the suspect, 24 year-old Michael Douglas Ludwig, that the person with whom Ludwig was chatting was a 14-year old girl.

As the conversation continued, the Ludwig became more aggressive and agitated. He became threatening and directed Det. Moore (as the underage female) to sneak out of her house stating, “You’re going to sneak out later tonight do you hear me little b****.” The suspect also texted, “You should listen to me b****…. I’m going to rape you.”

During the weeks of sporadic online communication, the Ludwig sent naked and clothed pictures of himself to Det. Moore.

On August 23, 2017, Ludwig arrived at a residential location in Largo intending on having sex with or raping the “minor child.” Ludwig was arrested without incident by members of the Largo Police Department Investigative Services Division and LPD’s Problem Oriented Policing (P.O.P) Unit.

Ludwig made a full post-Miranda confession of his actions. A small amount of narcotics was seized from the suspect’s vehicle.
